In
the early 70's, when Bright Arts was
first established the industry was much more basic; two men with 30 years
experience between them joined forces, set up a scanner and some light
tables. The work was done by hand and eye, with skill. Six staff were
hired and their talents, experience and well-trained eye for quality and
began to impress their clients.
Today
over 200 people work with more than 50 computers and leading edge, computerised,
scanning and out put equipment, a far cry from the early days, but the
same commitment to quality pervades.
Reputation
was to first hurdle on the road to success, but it didn't take long. The
years that Sunny Shum and Jimmy Wong put in to working for large prepress
companies paid off. Local clients knew they could rely on the small team
and began bringing their most challenging work to them. Delicate water
colour renderings and pen and ink drawings so prevalent in children's
books became their forte. As the local publishers put out such impressive
products more overseas clients came to them and slowly the name 'Bright
Arts' leaked out.
With
this basis they came to the attention of overseas publishers more and
more. Art books, photographic books, stock house catalogues, design awards
publications, the staff grew. By the late 1980's Bright
Arts was fast becoming and internationally known company. They
pushed ahead with technical innovations with a commitment to computerization
and page layout software. As clients took to manipulating photo's on their
own Bright Arts pioneered supplying
lo-res scans to clients and linking hi-res scans for output.
Their
vision of the future includes a commitment to the best quality computer
scanagraphic services and enhanced understanding of the products use to
manipulate images. Output equipment is maintained to cover many unusual
and complex requests. Technical specialists at Bright
Arts experiment with different methods and train staff in the
enhance techniques.
When
a client presents a special problem, the people at Bright
Arts work towards a solution.
